The classic Bolga baskets are woven by enthusiastic, skilled artisans from Zaare, a village in the Upper East region of Ghana. They are produced from indigenous and sustainably sourced elephant grass.
Basket weaving has become an important source of livelihood for these predominantly farming communities particularly during the dry season when there is limited agricultural activity.
Material: Elephant grass and leather
We would note that as the baskets are handmade, dimensions and color may vary from those shown in the photographs.
